- To avoid any unnecessary errors during the process of patching your FIFA 09, it is advisable to completely uninstall your FIFA 09 and also remove the FIFA09 folder from your system (By default, the folder should be located in “C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\”)
- Install FIFA 09 into your system
- Once the game is installed in your system, download the patch file according to the region of your game originated. For EA Games in Malaysia distributed by Gamers, it is usually from North America. However, the region of the game can be checked as below: -
- Click on the START button and then click RUN. If you can’t find the RUN button, you can use the shortcut key by pressing “the WINDOW button + R”
- Type regedit and press enter
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\EA Sports\FIFA 09;
- The item circled in red on your most right is the region where your game belongs to
- Besides the example above, there are other regions such as below: -
- fifa_2009_ukfrdeitnl - Central Europe (and UK)
- fifa_2009_ukessedkptbr - Rest of Europe and Brazil
- fifa_2009_ukplczhuru - Eastern Europe
- fifa_2009_ukmx - North America
- After that, apply the FIFA 09 patch accordingly from patch#1 and then patch#2. The winter patch still yet to be available from the EA forum, but you can update to Winter Squad by signing in to your EA account from FIFA09 and update there
